Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Music Office have announced that the Seventh Annual Texas Sounds & Cities Conference will take place in Corpus Christi on November 5 and 6. The event, co-hosted by the Texas Music Office, the City of Corpus Christi, Visit Corpus Christi, and the Corpus Christi Film & Music Commission, will focus on discussions about developing the Texas music industry.
Governor Abbott said, “Texas is where live music lives. Texas’ vibrant music industry supports local job creation while drawing visitors from around the globe, attracting a talented workforce across industries, and supporting business recruitment and expansion efforts throughout the state. I thank the Texas Music Office for helping communities large and small develop creative partnerships and grow new jobs.”
The conference will include panel discussions on industry development and conversations about statewide collaboration between Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities. Attendees will also explore best practices for increasing music tourism and creating local jobs.
All communities certified as Music Friendly Texas are invited to participate. More information about registration can be found at texassoundsandcities.com.
The Texas Music Office operates within the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office. Established in 1990, it is recognized as the first state music office in the country. Since 2016, it has managed a statewide program certifying communities as “Music Friendly,” now with over 80 partners across Texas.
