The Texas Real Estate Commission has announced that the updated Information About Brokerage Services (IABS 1-2) form is now required for use as of January 1, 2026. The revision comes in response to Senate Bill 1968, which takes effect on the same date and introduces changes to The Real Estate License Act (TRELA).

Senate Bill 1968 adds a non-representation status and new written agreement requirements in certain situations involving real estate transactions. To reflect these legislative updates, the language in the IABS notice has been revised. Additionally, the description of contact information on the form now uses current terminology.

Another significant change is the removal of references to subagency from the IABS notice. This follows Senate Bill 1968’s elimination of subagency from TRELA.

The Texas Real Estate Commission encourages industry professionals to review details about the updated form and how it should be provided to consumers.
