The Texas Real Estate Commission’s Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC) convened on January 12, 2026, to introduce new members and outline plans for a forthcoming review of sales agent education requirements.

Three individuals joined the committee: Alisha Austin and Mitch Rainey as license holder members, and Roxie Glenn as a public member. The committee leadership thanked them for their willingness to participate in efforts aimed at supporting real estate education in Texas.

During the meeting, ESAC elected its officers for the year. Bill Steddum was chosen as presiding officer (chair), Cindy Baas as assistant presiding officer (vice chair), and Paul Silverman as secretary.

The committee’s next significant project will involve assessing sales agent education requirements. This process will follow a job task analysis that will be conducted by the Commission’s licensing exam vendor. According to the committee, “The job task analysis, which will be performed by subject matter experts and psychometricians, will identify the most relevant knowledge and skills required for today’s real estate professionals in Texas.”

After completion of this analysis, ESAC plans to review both the structure and content of pre-licensing education courses. Because the job task analysis is expected to take several months, there will be no meeting in April. The July session is anticipated to include extensive discussion based on findings from the analysis.

Upcoming meetings are scheduled for Monday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m., and Monday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m.
