Texas Mutual highlights employee volunteer work during annual Month of Giving

Texas Mutual Insurance Company reported that its employees volunteered more than 1,300 hours during the company’s annual Month of Giving in October. The initiative, now in its fifth year and conducted in partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), involved 389 employees across four Texas cities.

In Austin, volunteers worked with Mobile Loaves & Fishes at Community First! Village, participated in a family volunteer event with Generation SERVE to create items for Central Texas nonprofits, and prepared lunches at Caritas of Austin. Employees also packed food boxes at El Buen Samaritano’s pantry, organized food at the Central Texas Food Bank warehouse, assembled thank-you bags for Texas Search and Rescue staff and volunteers, hosted a teacher appreciation lunch for Wayside Schools, assisted children with homework at Foundation Communities, participated in Halloween festivities and served lunch to residents. Additional activities included joining a fall festival for children at Texas Children’s Hospital and supporting Saint Louise House’s Trunk or Treat event.

Houston-based employees served lunch to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston, packed healthy lunches for Kids’ Meals, prepared meals for Kids’ Café at the Houston Food Bank, played games with foster children at Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos, and assembled hygiene kits benefiting Project C.U.R.E.

In Dallas, teams prepared dinner for families at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and hosted a volunteer event benefiting several organizations including Catch Up & Read and the Humane Society of North Texas. They also spent time with participants from My Possibilities and delivered cold and flu kits to seniors through Foundation Communities.

Lubbock activities included hosting a Make-A-Wish North Texas celebration for a young girl and her family, supporting the Texas South Plains Honor Flight send-off luncheon for veterans traveling to Washington D.C., organizing a family volunteer event with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock focused on making bookmarks and holiday cards for service members, caring for animals at Morris Safe House, preparing dinner for families at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, packing food boxes at South Plains Food Bank, and assisting with a science carnival at Science Spectrum.

A spokesperson stated: “It’s because of our employees and amazing community partners across the state that we’re able to build a stronger, safer and brighter future for our neighbors. During our Month of Giving and throughout the year, we’re grateful for our employees’ volunteer spirit and all our partners who share in our mission.”

The company says these efforts are part of an ongoing commitment to support local communities where it operates.
