Governor Greg Abbott has called for a statewide moment of silence in Texas to honor the victims of the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in Israel. The moment of silence is scheduled for 7:00 AM Central Time on October 7, 2025. This observance will also recognize those who are still held hostage as a result of the attacks carried out by Hamas.
In his statement, Governor Abbott said, “The State of Texas recognizes the inherent value of life and condemns all acts of hate while remaining committed to promoting prosperity, security, and dignity for all. Two years ago, inconceivable horrors emerged against the people of Israel, marking a day in history that our world must never forget. On the Day of Observance for Israel, we must reiterate our position that hatred and evil have no place in our world as we honor and remember the victims, their families, and their fellow countrymen.”
The proclamation aims to provide an opportunity for Texans to reflect on these events and show solidarity with those affected.
