Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock has announced the distribution of $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February to cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose districts. This represents a 2.5 percent increase compared to February 2025.
“These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2025 sales by businesses that report tax annually,” Hancock stated.
Cities will receive $963.4 million, which is a 2.9 percent increase from last year and a 3.5 percent rise for the year to date. Transit systems are allocated $309.4 million, reflecting a slight decrease of 0.7 percent from February 2025 but an overall year-to-date increase of 1.3 percent.
Counties will get $95.1 million, up by 5.8 percent compared to last year and showing a 4.6 percent growth for the year so far. Special purpose districts are set to receive $156.8 million, marking a 4.7 percent increase from February 2025 and a year-to-date rise of 7.6 percent.
