The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) marked the beginning of 2026 with the grand opening of two affordable housing developments in Fort Worth and Dallas.

Thrive on Crawford, a 67-unit property located at 1310 Crawford Street in Fort Worth, was developed to serve households earning between 30 to 60 percent of the Area Median Income. The complex offers one, two, and three-bedroom units and features amenities such as a business center, clubhouse and lounge area, and an outdoor playground. Residents will also have direct access to healthcare services through a partnership with JPS Health Network. The development received support from TDHCA’s Housing Tax Credit program—specifically as a 2021 9% HTC recipient ($1.7 million over ten years), a 2023 supplemental 9% HTC recipient, and a 2023 Multifamily Direct Loan recipient ($1.8 million).

In Dallas, April Housing reopened West Virginia Park at 8004 West Virginia Drive following extensive renovations. Originally built in 2004, the rehabilitated property now provides updated kitchens and bathrooms, improved outdoor play areas, and rooftop solar panels designed to offset electricity usage and provide backup power during outages. The development is near Southwest Center Mall as well as grocery stores, restaurants, and a public library. West Virginia Park received $1.87 million in tax credits under TDHCA’s 2024 4% HTC program—amounting to approximately $18 million over ten years—and will continue offering affordable housing for another three decades.
