Potential homebuyers in Texas now have access to a new online tool designed to simplify the process of determining eligibility for mortgage loans and down payment assistance. The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has introduced the Homebuyer Program’s Quick Check Eligibility Tool, which allows users to quickly assess whether their credit history, income, and savings may qualify them for support.

The tool is free to use and aims to help prospective buyers understand their options. According to TDHCA, “A few minutes is all that’s needed to help potential homebuyers determine if they qualify for down payment assistance and affordable mortgage loan options. And it’s FREE!”

The TDHCA Homebuyer Program provides down payment and closing cost assistance through a network of approved mortgage lenders. These funds are intended to help buyers who may lack sufficient resources complete the purchase of a home.

After using the Quick Check Eligibility Tool, applicants can be connected with an approved lender who will guide them through available mortgage products as well as any down payment or closing cost support. More information about the program is available at WelcomeHome.texas.gov.

“After completing the Quick Check Eligibility Tool, you can be connected to an approved lender to help you navigate mortgage options and help with down payment and closing costs,” according to TDHCA.

Those interested in updates about program releases or application procedures can sign up for notifications on the agency’s website.
