At its meeting on September 4, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Governing Board approved 88 awards for the 2025 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding cycle. The department will allocate about $9.8 million to support organizations that assist individuals experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

The ESG program allows funds to be used for several services, including street outreach, emergency shelter operations, rapid re-housing efforts, and homelessness prevention activities such as housing relocation and short- to medium-term rental assistance.

Organizations serving various Continuum of Care regions across Texas will receive these awards. Funding amounts by region include $833,343 for the City of San Antonio/Bexar County; $645,019 for the City of Austin/Travis County; $1,312,422 for Dallas and Irving/Dallas County; $642,630 for Fort Worth/Arlington/Tarrant County; and $266,935 for El Paso City/El Paso County. Additional allocations range from over $4.1 million to the Texas Balance of State region to smaller amounts designated for areas like Waco/McLennan County ($84,864), Amarillo ($124,612), Wichita Falls/Wise/Palo Pinto/Wichita/Archer counties ($121,151), Lubbock/Lubbock County ($92,060), Houston area counties ($1,455,363), and Bryan/College Station/Brazos Valley ($163,740).
