The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has announced the return of its annual Take Care of Texas Video Contest. The competition is open to students in grades six through twelve from public, private, and home schools across the state.
Participants are asked to create a 30-second video that highlights ways Texans can protect air and water quality, conserve resources, or reduce waste. Each entry must include the slogan: “Take Care of Texas. It’s the only one we’ve got.” Details about entry requirements are available on the video-contest requirements webpage.
Three high school winners will receive scholarships between $500 and $2,500, while three middle school students will be awarded gift cards for camera equipment valued from $400 to $800. Waste Management of Texas, Inc. is providing these prizes.
Entries must be submitted by December 5, 2025. Public voting on the videos will take place from January 14 to January 24, 2026. After public voting concludes, a panel made up of TCEQ staff and representatives from Waste Management of Texas, Inc. will select the winners. Results will be announced by March 2, 2026. First place winners are invited to attend the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards banquet scheduled for June 2026.
