San Antonio is preparing for a busy September with a variety of events across the city. As the weather cools, residents and visitors can expect activities ranging from family outings to cultural celebrations.
Labor Day weekend on September 1 marks the end of summer, offering options like Six Flags’ Summerbration with live shows and fireworks, SeaWorld’s Red, White, and BBQ festival, and the River Walk Labor Day Artisan Show featuring local artists.
From September 3 to 7, the World Heritage Festival will highlight San Antonio’s history through tours of the San Antonio Missions. Events include co-led heritage tours, a bike ride called Tour de las Misiones on September 6, and Junior Ranger Day with activities at each mission site.
The Tower of the Americas will host music nights on September 5 and a movie screening of “Mufasa: The Lion King” under the stars on September 13. For families with children, The DoSeum will hold its Big Day of Play on September 6 focused on music-themed activities.
Art enthusiasts can visit the McNay Art Museum from September 11 through February 1 for “Sandy Skoglund: Enchanting Nature,” an exhibit featuring immersive installations such as Radioactive Cats and Revenge of the Goldfish.
A preview event for Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival runs through September 12 at Aiden, showcasing art inspired by Texas summers in a speakeasy-style setting.
Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and continues through October 15. Citywide events during this period include river parades and mariachi performances celebrating San Antonio’s Hispanic culture.
Oktoberfest celebrations also start in September. Local beer gardens like Prost Haus and Krause’s Cafe & Biergarten will feature live German music. Six Flags Fiesta Texas will host an Oktoberfest Food Festival starting September 6. La Villita’s Oktoberfest is scheduled for September 19-21 with food offerings from well-known chefs.
Stable Hall at Pearl has opened as a new entertainment venue presenting live music from acts including William Clark Green, Mon Rovia, and The Struts throughout the month. Pearl will also offer free Yoga Under the Stars sessions every Thursday evening in September.
Cirque du Soleil brings its renewed OVO show to town from September 25-28 with new acrobatic acts and costumes.
On September 26, JazzSA Live returns to Civic Park at Hemisfair for a two-day jazz festival featuring musical performances and food vendors.
