Rackspace Technology has achieved VMware Sovereign Cloud Partner Status, marking a development in its offerings for organisations that require strict data control and compliance with local regulations. The company’s Rackspace Sovereign Services provides a managed private cloud platform built on VMware technologies and operated from UK-based data centres. This service is designed to help customers manage where their data is stored and how it is processed, while offering high availability, resilient networking, and integrated security controls.
Rick Martire, general manager of Rackspace Sovereign Services, said, “With Rackspace’s digital Sovereign Cloud, organisations can optimise private cloud architecture to ensure mission-critical applications deliver predictable performance, enhanced security, and operational reliability.” He added, “This is a major milestone supporting the UK Public Sector and further affirms our commitment to regulated industry clouds.”
Rackspace works with UK public sector bodies, financial services firms subject to regulation, and healthcare providers by delivering solutions that integrate cloud infrastructure with managed services and security operations.
The VMware Sovereign Cloud Partner Status is granted to VMware Cloud Service Providers that meet criteria for delivering cloud services with full data sovereignty and jurisdictional control within a country or region. This status confirms the provider’s ability to keep data under local management in accordance with national privacy laws and security requirements. Data must be stored in centres managed by entities based in the same country.
Rackspace Technology describes itself as an end-to-end hybrid cloud and AI solutions company. It offers design, build, and operation of customer cloud environments across different technology platforms. The company supports customers throughout their cloud journey to modernise applications or adopt new technologies.
