Josh Hartford, Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Union Rail Division, recently addressed delegates at the IAM New Mexico State Council meeting. He provided an update on developments in the rail industry and recognized IAM Local 331’s first participation in the council.

Hartford discussed key issues facing rail workers, including ongoing contract negotiations, workforce safety concerns, and federal policy initiatives aimed at protecting union jobs.

“The IAM Rail Division continues to give members a strong voice in the rail industry here in New Mexico,” said Hartford. “We’re fighting every day to make sure our members are being seen and rewarded for the critical work they do throughout the state.”

He also commended IAM Local 331 for its engagement with other delegates and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Rail Division and state councils.

The participation of the IAM Rail Division in the New Mexico State Council highlights efforts to support rail workers’ rights and strengthen union representation within the industry.
