More than 3,200 members of IAM Union District 837 at Boeing’s St. Louis defense facilities are set to vote on a revised contract offer from the company on Sunday, August 3, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time. If the membership rejects the proposal, a strike is scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, August 4.
The updated contract proposal includes several changes. Boeing has withdrawn its Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS) proposal, meaning that current overtime policies will remain as they are. The company also added an annual pay enhancement of 50 cents per hour for employees who have reached the maximum pay rate.
For retirement benefits, pension-eligible members would see a full $10 increase in their pension multiplier in the first year if they retire after January 1, 2026. This differs from previous terms that would have spread out the increase over three years.
Other aspects of Boeing’s modified offer—including proposed wage increases totaling 20%, a $5,000 ratification bonus, vacation and sick leave provisions, and healthcare—remain unchanged.
This upcoming vote comes after union members overwhelmingly rejected an earlier proposal from Boeing on July 27.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) represents about 600,000 active and retired workers across various industries in North America including aerospace and defense. More information about IAM can be found at https://www.goiam.org/.
