IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen and other union leaders recently visited members at Alaska Airlines Cargo. During their trip, they met with mechanics from both Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines in Seattle and Hawaii.

A major topic of discussion was the upcoming representation election between the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA). This election is part of the ongoing merger process between Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

Johnsen addressed questions from union members about this issue. He issued a public challenge to AMFA for a debate, stating his willingness to discuss workforce concerns at any time or place. “I am ready to meet anywhere, anytime, to talk about what matters most for our members,” Johnsen said.

Video highlights of these meetings are available online.
