Governor Greg Abbott participated in a volunteer appreciation luncheon in Kerrville, serving meals to individuals who contributed to the rebuilding of the Dietert Center. The center, which is the only senior community facility in the area, was damaged during significant flooding that occurred in July.
At the event, Governor Abbott addressed the volunteers and said, “You are the heart and soul of the community. Whether you live here, work here, or eat here, you depend on the people here. This is your home, and we all have a collective goal — and that is to ensure you are going to be safe and secure permanently in your home right here in Kerr County. We’re going to be here every day, every step of the way, until we completely rebuild this entire region.”
The Governor acknowledged the efforts of Hunt. Fish. Feed. and Spectrum for their role in providing food and supporting local recovery after the flooding. He emphasized that Texas is working together through volunteer efforts to recover from natural disasters and stated that state support for ongoing recovery continues.
Abbott was joined at the luncheon by several officials including Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Representative Wes Virdell, Dietert Center Executive Director Brenda Thompson, Hunt. Feed. Fish. Director of Marketing Dave Munroe, Spectrum Communications Vice President of Government Affairs Ned Munoz, as well as other state and local representatives.
Additional photos from the event will be made available at a later date.
