Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Sue Allen, Larry Moczygemba, D.V.M., and Victoria Whitehead to the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. Their new terms will run until August 26, 2031. The Board is responsible for setting and enforcing policies to maintain quality veterinary and equine dental provider services in Texas.
Sue Allen, from Waco, is a licensed veterinary technician who serves as program director and professor of veterinary technology at McLennan Community College. She has previously worked as a registered veterinary technician in Gatesville. Allen is involved with several professional associations including the North Central Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Veterinary Technician Educators, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Team Association of Texas, National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America, and the American Animal Hospital Association. She has also volunteered with local education programs and livestock shows. Allen holds an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Texas State Technical College.
Lawrence “Larry” Moczygemba, D.V.M., from Berclair, founded South Texas Veterinary Clinic (STVC), which provides mixed animal services in south Texas since 1986. He currently works as a relief veterinarian and ambulatory beef cattle veterinarian for STVC services. Moczygemba’s past roles include president of the Academy of Veterinary Consultants and co-founder of the Academy of Rural Veterinarians. He is a member of various professional organizations such as the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (VMA), American VMA, Coastal Bend VMA, Society for Theriogenology, and Coastal Conservation Association. He earned degrees from Texas A&M University (B.S., D.V.M.) and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (M.S.).
Victoria Whitehead is based in Lubbock and serves as chief executive officer for West Texas Home Builders Association, Inc. She sits on boards including the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Caprock Business Finance Corporation, Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Lubbock; she is also CEO for West Texas Hero Homes and a committee member for the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball. Whitehead holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University.
