Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Michael H. “Mike” Lewis as Sabine River Compact Administration Commissioner, with his new term ending on July 12, 2031. The commissioners oversee the Sabine River Compact, which is an agreement between Texas, Louisiana, and the United States.

Lewis works as an investigator for the Newton County District Attorney’s office. He serves on the Jasper/Newton County Health Board and is involved with the Newton County Investment Committee and the Newton County Bid Review Committee. He also participates as a county committee member for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and belongs to Rainbow Masonic Lodge #735.

His background includes service in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1970 to 1971, after which he was honorably discharged. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University.
