Governor Greg Abbott has informed Texans about available safety resources following recent military actions in the Middle East involving Iran. The announcement is directed at Texans both within the state and abroad, particularly those in regions where American civilians may be at risk.
Governor Abbott urged Texans to stay alert and follow the latest security updates from U.S. embassies or consulates. For immediate help, individuals can contact the U.S. Department of State by calling 1-202-501-4444 from outside the United States or 1-888-407-4747 from within the country. The Texas Fusion Center is also available at 1-844-927-0521.
“The safety and well-being of Texans are paramount,” said Governor Abbott. “Now more than ever, Texans must remain vigilant and follow the guidance of U.S. officials as military action continues overseas. The State of Texas is actively coordinating with our federal partners to safeguard Texans abroad and at home from hostile foreign actors.”
Officials recommend several steps for personal safety, including monitoring travel advisories, registering with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for real-time alerts, maintaining regular contact with family members, avoiding high-risk areas, and following all instructions from local and federal authorities. Texans are also advised to keep important documents accessible and ensure they have reliable communication methods.
The Governor’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety will continue working with federal agencies to provide updated information as circumstances change.
