Governor Greg Abbott attended the opening of Wells Fargo’s new Las Colinas campus in Irving, Texas, marking a significant development for the region. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a panel discussion.
During his remarks, Governor Abbott emphasized the growing role of Texas as a financial center. “The Texas economy is becoming more diversified to signify our might as a financial capital,” said Governor Abbott. “To make sure it stays that way, the Texas economy focuses not on where we are, but where we are going. We need financial institutions and the ability for all our growing businesses to have access to capital, and that is exactly what Wells Fargo is providing.”
Other notable attendees at the grand opening included Wells Fargo CEO Charlie Scharf, Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer, television personality Mike Rowe, and several state and local officials.
In the panel discussion, Governor Abbott pointed out that Wells Fargo’s choice of Irving-Las Colinas for its corporate office represents one of the largest real estate transactions in the area over the past twenty years. He said this partnership will bring mutual benefits to both Wells Fargo and the community. Governor Abbott also described Texas as “the modern embodiment of the American Dream,” highlighting ongoing efforts to expand opportunities for businesses and residents.
Additionally, Governor Abbott thanked Wells Fargo for its recent donation supporting families affected by floods in Kerrville on July 4th.
Photos from the event are expected to be released soon.
