Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of Amber Batson and the appointment of Dan Syphrett to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors. Batson’s term will expire on August 31, 2027, while Syphrett’s term is set to end on August 31, 2026. The Gulf Coast Authority is responsible for providing water systems and overseeing water pollution control and waste disposal within its district. The authority also conducts studies and research related to water pollution and waste management.
Amber Batson, from Tomball, serves as a Project Manager and Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers. She holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the Texas Water Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation. Batson is a licensed professional engineer in both Texas and Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.
Dan Syphrett, who resides in Stowell, is retired following a career as an electric utility manager. He participates in community activities such as serving on the East Chambers Education Foundation Gala committee and being involved with the St. Louis Church Rice Ball Committee. Syphrett graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics.
According to Governor Abbott’s office: “The Gulf Coast Authority has the authority to provide water systems and control water pollution and waste disposal within the district. In addition, they shall conduct studies and research on the control of water pollution and waste disposal within the district.”
