Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Tonya Miller to serve on the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), with her term scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2031. The TCEQ is tasked with protecting public health and natural resources in Texas while supporting sustainable economic growth.
Miller, based in Austin, currently holds a director position at the Texas Water Development Board. Her previous roles include vice president of wholesale power strategic projects and optimization for the Lower Colorado River Authority. She has also been executive director of the Texas Solar Power Association and director of the Office of Air at TCEQ. Additionally, Miller has served as public counsel and chief executive officer for the Office of Public Utility Counsel, assistant director and special counsel for TCEQ’s Radioactive Materials Division, and legislative liaison for TCEQ.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of Texas. She has also been part of several boards: she is a former member of the Financial Research Institute Advisory Board and previously served as an ex-officio board member for both the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and the Texas Reliability Entity. Miller earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of South Dakota.
