Governor Greg Abbott has appointed seven individuals to the Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee. The committee is responsible for developing nutritional guidelines for residents in Texas.
Ann Shippy, M.D., Commissioner Sid Miller, and Natalie Bachynsky, Ph.D., have been appointed for terms ending September 1, 2027. Padmaja Patel, M.D., Cheryl Sew Hoy, Jaclyn Albin, M.D., and Kathleen Davis, Ph.D., will serve until September 1, 2029.
Ann Shippy of Austin is a physician and author who leads Ann Shippy MD and Every Life Well. She holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Functional Medicine and is involved with several professional organizations. Before her medical career, she worked as a chemical engineer.
Sid Miller of Stephenville has served as commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture since 2015. He previously served in the Texas House of Representatives and has a background in farming education.
Natalie Bachynsky from Lovelady owns Houston County Family Medical Clinic and participates in various nursing associations. She also volunteers as a nurse practitioner at The Murray Clinic.
Padmaja Patel from Midland serves as chief medical officer at Nudj Health and is president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She has held advisory roles on national health quality forums.
Cheryl Sew Hoy of Austin founded Tiny Health, which focuses on microbiome science for families. In 2025, her company published research showing reduced infant eczema through personalized interventions.
Jaclyn Albin from Bedford teaches pediatrics and internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She serves on multiple boards related to nutrition and pediatric care.
Kathleen Davis from Denton is an associate professor at TWU with memberships in several nutrition-related organizations. She also serves on editorial boards for nutrition journals.
