Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Robert Rucker as the Injured Employee Public Counsel, with a term ending on February 1, 2027. The Public Counsel position is responsible for assisting injured employees within the Workers’ Compensation system, managing the ombudsman program, and advocating for employee interests.

Rucker currently serves as general counsel for the Office of Injured Employee Counsel. His previous experience includes working as assistant general counsel at the Texas Department of Insurance. He is a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the Iowa State Bar Association. Rucker holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin and earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
