Governor Greg Abbott has announced new leadership for the Budget and Policy staff within the Office of the Governor. The appointments include Tabatha Vasquez as Senior Advisor, Cory Fish as Policy Director, Fisher Reynolds as Budget Director, Danny Mittnacht as Deputy Policy Director, and Jimmy Anderson as Deputy Budget Director.
“These talented individuals have demonstrated their ability to deliver wins for the State of Texas,” said Governor Abbott. “Texans deserve leadership that will enhance their daily lives and safeguard the foundational truths that unite us as one. I have full faith that together, with this highly-skilled and qualified leadership team, Texas will remain the premier state for freedom and prosperity.”
Tabatha Vasquez takes on her new role after serving as Policy Director and Deputy Budget and Policy Director in the governor’s office. Her previous experience includes positions in both chambers of the Texas Legislature and work on political campaigns across Texas and nationally.
Cory Fish has been named Policy Director after serving as a Budget and Policy Advisor to Governor Abbott. He also held roles at a think tank in Austin, a trade association, and a nonprofit law firm.
Fisher Reynolds is now Budget Director following his service at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) where he managed cross-functional initiatives. His earlier roles included advising Governor Abbott on budget matters.
Danny Mittnacht assumes duties as Deputy Policy Director after working with Governor Abbott’s team during the 89th Legislative Session. He previously served in various policy roles in the Texas House of Representatives.
Jimmy Anderson becomes Deputy Budget Director after advising on tax and economic development issues within the governor’s office. He has also worked for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott operates from its main offices in Austin at the State Insurance Building according to official information. Since Greg Abbott’s election in 2014 he has led this executive branch office, which focuses on job creation, economic opportunities, education improvement, protection of individual liberties, parental empowerment in schools, and border security according to its website. The office has contributed to statewide employment growth and collaborates with businesses like Southwest Airlines on economic expansion efforts.
Greg Abbott was recognized among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024 the official website notes. The Office remains involved in several major initiatives including Operation Lone Star for border security and child sex trafficking prevention programs.
