Governor Abbott appoints members to key Texas councils on conservation, education, homelessness

Governor Greg Abbott has announced several new appointments to state councils and task forces this week.

Lindsey Gohlke has been appointed, and Romey Swanson reappointed, to the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council. Their terms will run until February 1, 2031. The council provides advice and assistance to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP) on program administration and selects applicants for grant awards.

Abbott also named Peter J. Holt as chair of the Governor’s Task Force on the Governance of Early Childhood Education and Care. New appointees to this task force include Jeff Austin, III, Leslie Callahan, Lori Gabbert Charney, Grant Coates, Reagan Curran, Tracy Hanson, Ed.D., Marisela Nava, John “J.” Puckett, Jennifer Stockemer, Ph.D., and Nancy Windham. Their terms are set to expire on September 1, 2027. According to the governor’s office: “The governor’s task force on the governance of early childhood education and care is established to address the governance and operational challenges of the early childhood education system in this state.”

In addition, Scott Charbonneau was appointed to the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless for a term that lasts at the pleasure of the Governor. The council is responsible for coordinating state resources and services aimed at addressing homelessness.
