Governor Greg Abbott has announced new appointments to key positions in Texas state boards this week.

JoMeka Gray has been appointed to the State Board for Educator Certification. Her term will run until February 1, 2031. The board is responsible for developing certification and continuing education requirements, as well as standards of conduct for public school teachers.

Paloma Ahmadi has been named to the Texas Southern University Board of Regents. Her term is set to expire on February 1, 2029.

The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, based in Austin at the State Insurance Building, continues to play a significant role in statewide governance and service delivery according to its official website. Since his election in 2014, Greg Abbott has led efforts focused on job creation, economic opportunities, education enhancement, individual liberties protection, parental empowerment in schooling, and southern border security (source). Under his leadership, Texas has seen notable job growth and record employment levels (source). In recognition of his influence and leadership, Greg Abbott was included among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024 (source).
