Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Colonel Kirk Peterson (Ret.) to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission. Peterson’s term will run until February 1, 2031. The commission works to maintain and grow military missions and installations in Texas, as well as encourage defense-related businesses to move or expand within the state.
Colonel Peterson is a partner at the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce. He previously held the position of deputy director of logistics, engineering, and force protection at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base. He is affiliated with several organizations including the Logistics Officer Association, Military Officers Association of America, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Peterson served in the United States Air Force for 30 years before retiring. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Ohio University and a master’s degree in Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
