Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Amanda Crawford as the new Commissioner of Insurance for Texas. Her term will last until February 1, 2027.
Crawford is currently the executive director of the Department of Information Resources and serves as Texas’ Chief Information Officer. She has previously worked as deputy attorney general for administration and general counsel at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. Crawford is a member of the State Bar of Texas and was president of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers in the past. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center.
