Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed fourteen individuals to the Texas Health Services Authority Board of Directors, with their terms set to end on June 15, 2027. The board is responsible for coordinating health information exchange across the state.
The appointees bring diverse experience in healthcare administration, medicine, law, and public service. Among those reappointed are Victoria Bryant, Pharm.D., founder of Ambassadors Caregivers and president of the Faith, Hope and Joy Foundation; Shannon Calhoun, chief revenue officer for IV Ensure; Salil Deshpande, M.D., chief medical officer for UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas; Lacey Fails, a healthcare administrator; Calvin Green, deputy executive commissioner at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission; and Jeffrey Hoogheem, director at the Center for Health Emergency Preparedness and Response within the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Other members include Kenneth James from Superior HealthPlan; Kourtney Kouns from United Regional Health Care System; Jerome Lisk, M.D., a movement disorder neurologist; Leticia Rodriguez, CEO for Ward Memorial Hospital; Jonathan Sandstrom Hill from Capital Commercial Investments; Cynthia Stinson, Ph.D., a nurse consultant for Health Education Resources; Wes Tidwell, president at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Centennial; and Carlos J. Vital, M.D., president and CEO of Vital Allergy & Asthma Center.
“The Authority is responsible for coordinating the implementation of health information exchange in Texas,” according to Governor Abbott’s office.
The appointees have held leadership roles in hospitals and healthcare systems throughout Texas. Their backgrounds range from clinical care to public health preparedness and legal counsel in commercial investments. Many serve or have served on boards related to healthcare quality improvement and community engagement initiatives.
