More than 100 tax and accounting professionals gathered at The Line Hotel in early December for the annual EY Austin CPE Conference. The event, sponsored by HPI and Hire Solutions, focused on key trends affecting finance and accounting.
The conference aimed to provide updates on tax policy, explore how artificial intelligence is changing the field, discuss recent developments in financial reporting and regulation, and offer an outlook on US economic conditions.
EY partners and guest speakers addressed topics such as SEC rulemaking, enforcement actions, and comment letter trends. Attendees learned about the impact of SEC focus areas like non-GAAP measures, segment reporting, and revenue recognition on company disclosures.
Taylor Sisson, EY Austin Office Managing Partner, said: “The big takeaway was that proactive engagement with regulators is more important than ever, and I appreciated the great discussion on what that engagement should look like. That’s our goal with this conference: to share ideas and perspectives with leaders in our community and give Austin professionals a valuable opportunity to build relationships.”
Artificial intelligence was also a major topic at the conference. EY leaders discussed practical uses for AI in finance teams—including reconciliations, financial statements preparation, risk management, and audit quality. They also talked about governance strategies for integrating AI into business processes.
Sisson added: “What I appreciate most about our CPE conference is how everyone leaves with action plans already in mind. It’s motivating to see more than a hundred passionate professionals come together to learn how they can strengthen their careers, their businesses and our broader economy.”
The event provided an opportunity for local professionals to connect during a period of change within the industry.
