CPS Energy has begun a series of public engagement events aimed at collecting feedback from San Antonio residents to help shape the city’s long-term energy generation plans. The initiative comes as the city continues to expand and its energy needs change.

The utility is offering both in-person and virtual opportunities for community members to participate. At these events, customers can learn about progress made since the Board of Trustees approved CPS Energy’s generation plan in 2023 and provide input that will inform future recommendations.

According to CPS Energy, community feedback has played an important role in guiding its planning efforts over recent years. Previous input highlighted reliability, affordability, and cleaner energy as key concerns for residents. As CPS Energy updates its strategy and looks toward its Horizon 2050 strategic plan, it says public participation remains essential.

A series of events are scheduled across San Antonio, including sessions at St. Brigid Catholic Church Hall on December 10, Las Palmas on December 12, and a virtual Tele Town Hall on January 13. Additional events are expected to be announced soon. Information about upcoming events is available at cpsenergy.com/events.

Residents who cannot attend an event can submit their perspectives through an online survey. This allows individuals to share their views on energy priorities and resource options as CPS Energy develops future plans.

All feedback collected during this period will be reviewed by the CPS Energy Board of Trustees in early 2026 as they consider how best to power the community in the coming decades.

More information about CPS Energy’s initiatives can be found at cpsenergy.com/pathforward.

“CPS Energy wants to hear directly from the community about what priorities matter most to them,” according to the company statement. “During this engagement period, the utility aims to educate customers, listen to residents and understand their concerns about how the utility powers the community for decades to come.”

Founded in 1860, CPS Energy provides electric and natural gas service to more than 970,000 electric customers and 390,000 natural gas customers in San Antonio and nearby counties. The company states that it offers some of the lowest combined energy bills among large U.S. cities while contributing significant revenue back to San Antonio since 1942.
