CPS Energy is preparing for its annual GrillsGiving event, set for November 15, 2025, at Hangar 9 at Brooks in San Antonio. The event, which will run from noon to 6 p.m., combines barbecue, music, and community involvement to raise funds for the Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP). This initiative supports local families who need help paying their utility bills.

Bridgewater Consulting Group is sponsoring this year’s event. More than 60 barbecue teams, including CPS Energy employees and community members, will compete in categories such as brisket, ribs, and chicken. The festival will feature games and activities suitable for families. Children aged 10 and under can enter free of charge, and parking is also free.

The music lineup includes Cascara, Nick Zamora Band, Texases, and DJ Natalie Ledesma. Last year’s GrillsGiving raised over $400,000 for REAP to assist local families facing energy-related financial challenges.

“GrillsGiving is more than a barbecue competition, it’s a demonstration of community rooted in compassion, and a love of San Antonio flavor. So, mark your calendar, bring your family, and join us as we celebrate a decade of grilling for good,” said organizers.

REAP is a partnership among CPS Energy, the City of San Antonio, and Bexar County that provides twice-yearly energy bill assistance to those in need. Applications are processed by the City of San Antonio and Bexar County. CPS Energy contributes up to $1 million annually to REAP and raises additional funds through events like GrillsGiving.

CPS Energy serves over 970,000 electric customers and 390,000 natural gas customers in San Antonio and surrounding areas. The company has generated $10.1 billion in revenue for the City of San Antonio since 1942.

“Our customers’ combined energy bills rank among the lowest of the nation’s 20 largest cities – while generating $10.1 billion in revenue for the City of San Antonio since 1942. As a trusted and strong community partner, we continuously focus on job creation, economic development, and educational investment. We are powered by our skilled workforce, whose commitment to the community is demonstrated through our employees’ volunteerism in giving back to our city and programs aimed at bringing value to our customers,” according to CPS Energy.
