The U.S. Census Bureau has published new data tables from the Annual Survey of State Government Finances, covering fiscal year 2024. The release includes financial summaries for each state, with detailed breakdowns of revenue sources, expenditures, and debt.

According to the Census Bureau, “These statistics provide a summary of the finances of state governments for fiscal year 2024. Tables include data for each state, along with detailed information on revenue sources, spending and debt.”

The data is used by federal, state and local governments as well as educational and research organizations to conduct comparative studies and to assist in developing the government component of gross domestic product.

This survey is conducted annually as a supplement to the Annual Survey of State and Local Government Finances.

There was no accompanying news release; only a tip sheet was provided.
