Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) has supported more than 50 clinical trials since 2016 through its ARC Clinical Research program. In collaboration with Innovo Research, the clinic investigates new methods to prevent, detect, or treat diseases that may benefit both pediatric and adult patients in Central Texas.

Currently, ARC is enrolling participants for five vaccine and treatment studies focused on conditions such as pediatric migraines, chronic kidney disease, and chronic hives. Previous research at ARC has included vaccine trials for COVID-19, chickenpox, and meningitis; diagnostic studies for autism and lung cancer; and treatment studies addressing arthritis, eczema, hot flashes, flu, and other illnesses.

ARC’s clinical research examines a range of health conditions and evaluates new medications and treatments. These clinical trials often take years to complete. One ongoing study is a long-term trial of the multiple sclerosis medication BRIUMVI. This 96-week study tracks the drug’s effectiveness, safety profile, and patient tolerance over time. The research offers local access to an emerging treatment option for people living with MS in Central Texas.

A separate Phase III study at ARC targeted patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who also have high proteinuria. The research identified a new approach that lowered protein levels in urine and slowed CKD progression.

“ARC has been serving the community for over 45 years. In addition to comprehensive, coordinated, primary, specialty, and surgical care, we are proud to find new ways to prevent and treat illness and disease, improve outcomes, and provide Central Texans with access to advanced medical treatment,” said Anas Daghestani, MD, President & CEO of ARC.

ARC’s partnership with Innovo Research connects it to a network of 14 medical organizations across the United States involved in nationwide clinical trials. These studies involve millions of patients and more than 150 physician-led investigation teams.

“Our partnership with Innovo Research allows ARC to expand healthcare innovation and cutting-edge research, offering patients in our community a unique value,” explained Jacques Benun, MD, FAAP, ARC Principal Investigator. “I feel fortunate to be in a position where I can make a difference in advancing medicine while helping our patients achieve their health care goals.”

Austin Regional Clinic is a multispecialty medical group providing healthcare services throughout Central Texas since its founding by three Austin physicians in 1980. It now serves over 700,000 residents at 36 locations across 15 cities in the region. Services include primary care as well as specialty programs such as those for Multiple Sclerosis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

The Austin Chamber of Commerce supports businesses by organizing events focused on innovation and economic trends while fostering partnerships for regional growth according to its official website. The organization promotes inclusive development across neighborhoods and works collaboratively with local enterprises toward economic advancement.
