The Alamo Colleges District has introduced its 2025–2030 strategic plan, known as AlamoFORWARD. The district, recognized as the largest higher education provider in South Texas, outlined a five-year strategy to continue delivering high-quality instruction and career-focused pathways for students.
“AlamoFORWARD will create real and lasting change for our growing region,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. “Through powerful partnerships with our community, we will continue to bridge classrooms to careers in collaboration with our industry leaders and service providers, fueling our region’s economic mobility and vitality.”
The new plan is organized around four main priorities: supporting student success from enrollment through graduation; fostering a mission-driven workplace that encourages performance and leadership among employees; strengthening ties with the community through service and collaboration; and maintaining efficient operations across all services.
Development of the plan included eight listening sessions with about 200 stakeholders such as students, staff, board trustees, and community partners from across the district’s five colleges.
In August 2025, the district reported record-breaking enrollment numbers for Fall 2025 at 87,757 learners. The goal is to reach 100,000 enrolled students by Fall 2030 across all five colleges.
Initiatives tied to AlamoFORWARD include enhancing student support through the Students First commitment, improving the AlamoADVISE advising model—which has received national recognition—and expanding dual credit and early college programs.
Implementation of these strategies will be tracked through shared leadership within the district. Progress updates will be provided periodically to both the Board of Trustees and the wider community. More details on the strategic plan are available at https://www.alamo.edu/alamoforward.
