Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Matthew Goldwater and reappointed Samuel Brown and Dr. Hammad Qureshi to the Texas Board of Respiratory Care. Their terms will run until February 1, 2031. The board works with the Texas Medical Board to set standards for respiratory therapists in the state, including certification requirements, professional conduct guidelines, and disciplinary procedures.
Matthew Goldwater is from Georgetown and serves as a senior sales executive for ventilation at Dräger. He is a member of the American Association for Respiratory Care and volunteers as an assistant coach with the Georgetown Youth Baseball Association. Goldwater holds a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Texas State University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Tyler.
Samuel Brown resides in Marshall and works as assistant IT manager and network administrator for Louis A. Williams & Associates. His previous experience includes working as a computer lab technician at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). Brown has coached youth basketball and football through i20 Sports and the Boys and Girls Club of America. He also serves as an ordained minister and Teen Ministry teacher at Church On Purpose. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from ETBU and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Tarleton State University.
Dr. Hammad Qureshi lives in Tomball and is board-certified in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine. He is part of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Methodist Hospital The Woodlands, where he also holds an academic appointment with Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Qureshi received his F.Sc. in Pre-Medicine from Government College University Lahore, MBBS from King Edward Medical College, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of West Virginia, and pursued fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
