2024 H-1B petitions: Approvals for employers classified under Health Care and Social Assistance industry across San Antonio Business Daily publication area

In 2024, all H-1B petitions submitted by employers classified under the Health Care and Social Assistance industry located across San Antonio Business Daily publication area were approved, according to data provided by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub.

This represents an approval rate of 100%, which is higher than the average in Texas across all industries.

That year, the statewide average approval rate for H-1B petitions stood at 97.6%, slightly higher than 2023’s 96.5%. Across the publication area, employers across all industries submitted 2,638 petitions during the same period, with an approval rate of 96.5%.

For comparison, the U.S. reported an average approval rate of 98% in 2024.

While the Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services industry led the H-1B filings with 1,754 petitions, representing 66.5% of all submissions in San Antonio Business Daily publication area during 2024, the next largest contributor was the Manufacturing industry, which accounted for 217 petitions and represented 8.2% of the total. Among petitions from employers in the Manufacturing industry, 99.5% were approved and 0.5% were denied.

The San Antonio Business Daily employers that filed the most petitions in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector in San Antonio Business Daily publication area during 2024 were Bexar County Hospital District and Harris County Hospital District, each with five petitions.

Compared to 2023, the Health Care and Social Assistance sector saw a 17.5% increase in the number of H-1B petitions across San Antonio Business Daily publication area during 2024.
